Hair and beauty salons in England have reopened with restrictions. So, whilst we can finally get our roots done, some treatments remain off-limits.
Here is a quick rundown of what is and isn’t allowed.
What treatments can you book?
You can now book treatments at hair and beauty salons, including mobile services.
Available treatments include haircuts, manicures, and pedicures. You’ll also be able to book body waxes and some types of massages.
Outdoor spa facilities have reopened, including outdoor gyms, jacuzzies, and swimming pools.
Indoor gyms, jacuzzies, and swimming pools can resume from 25 July.
Saunas and steam rooms are to remain closed until further notice.
What treatments aren’t allowed?
All treatments that involve the area in front of the face remain off-limits. The area in front of the face poses the highest risk of transmission as splashes and droplets from the nose and mouth may occur.
Treatments that cannot be performed include:
• Face waxing, sugaring or threading services
• Facial treatments
• Eyelash treatments
• Make-up application
• Dermarolling
• Dermaplaning
• Microblading
• Facial electrolysis
• Eyebrow treatments
What rules apply to clients?
You must maintain social distancing and follow the rules of the premises. Do not attend if you start to feel unwell before your appointment!
When using spa facilities, shower and change at home rather than in the changing rooms.
How will services change?
You will need to book appointments before arrival. Some booking systems may also include a health check.
When you arrive at the premises you can expect to have your temperature checked. You may also find hand sanitising stations, protective screens, and floor markings for social distancing.
During your visit, you will have to forgo some luxuries. Hair and beauty salons are no longer allowed to offer magazines, food, or refreshments.
Card payments will be preferred and may be compulsory depending on the salon.
What about Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland?
Hair and beauty salons have now reopened in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Salons in Wales are set to open from 27 July.
